One of the many reasons I am so passionate about this lifestyle is because I know what it's like to feel like absolute shit. Before I reached this point in my journey where I am full of vibrancy, high energy, glow, radical self-love and bliss, my body was expressing symptoms of poor health physically, mentally and emotionally. Growing up, I considered myself a healthy, fit and spiritual person to an extent but it wasn’t until I changed my diet to predominantly high-fruit raw vegan (with lots of greens!) that I truly began to understand the real meaning of health and what it means to allow space for healing. I use to suffer from eczema, chronic migraines, cystic acne, sinus infections, allergies, stomach ulcers, depression, anxiety, the list goes on and on and yet at the time, I thought I was still healthy because it is so normalized in society to take a pill. It was so frustrating to me how doctors just gave me the run around with no solutions and only wanted to hand out pills to mask what my body was trying to communicate. I was totally unaware that food had the power to either be medicine or be destructive to my cells.
Approximately 7 years ago, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis and started to only eat organic food. Less than 2 years later, my quest for optimal health grew stronger when I discovered a raw food diet and it saved my life! I started connecting deeply with my food, to nature and Source energy in ways I never knew were possible and in turn, I started revealing my truest self. This lifestyle is huge support in my life and helps me navigate all levels of health and well-being on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual planes. Plants are full of information that nourishes us in a variety of ways. I started finding myself having more patience and I became more at peace with myself when I stopped consuming sentiment animals and their by products. Eating plants grown from the land, kissed by the sun and nurtured by rains give us the ability to upgrade on multidimensional levels. Everything here on this planet is intertwined together and every form of life here is completely dependent on plants for their existence. It is this nourishing energy that fuels life and has given me the capacity to continue to be of service on this Earth. To be anchored in love, understanding and spread as much warmth, kindness and compassion to all living beings. This lifestyle can be extremely transformation if one is ready, open and available to put in the hard work and dedication needed for transcending the highest human experience. Plants should be seen as teachers, medicine and tools that act as a catalyst to shift the paradigms of consciousness and ignite the path of self-mastery.
When you are sick and in pain, everything in your life is effected. This directly changes our behaviors and emotions on how we view life. It's so easy to play victim and get lost up in it all. Depression, anxiety, anger, fear, worry and chaos all have the opportunity to slide into our world when we are suffering and feeling helpless like it's just the way life is and there's nothing we can do. But I'm here to tell you, it's NOT how life has to be! The capacity we have to heal on every dimension of our being IS possible and plant medicine is the most impactful way to start going about it. It has literally transformed my life and has helped me find my light again. Our bodies are incredibly resilient and are forever working in our favor given the right fuel, nutrients and love. Taking care of our vessel has to be our #1 priority or else everything will start to fall apart. It starts at the body, to the emotional body, to the mind and to our Spirit. What we put in our bodies, how we think, speak, actions we take, our will and intent all play a vital role in our harmony. When we feel better and are in a greater state of wellbeing, we are naturally more positive, giving, loving and kind. We have the potential to awaken and shift our world through many modalities but this high raw plant based lifestyle has been my Godsend and saving grace on multiple levels. Nature is potent and it is our truest state of self that can expand us beyond the limits of this realm.
I want you to understand that our genes don't have to determine our destiny or fate and there is a way we can actually manipulate our genes in a sense for better health. Two ways we can do this is through epigenetics and neurogenesis. Epigenetics is our ability to change how our genes are expressed within the body due to external factors that contribute to our overall health and wellbeing. In many facets of our lives relating to diet, lifestyle, behavior, psychological influences and environmental factors, we have the capacity to alter up to 90-95% of how our cells communicate with each other by activating or inactivating genes that either prevent or promote disease and illness including cancer, autoimmune disease, mental disorders, cardiovascular health, diabetes, etc. Another amazing way we can alter genes is by actually growing new nerve cells. This process called neurogenesis is the birth of new brain cells. Why is this important? It can improve our mood, emotions, memory and learning skills which is great for neurological diseases.
